The Stiftung FHNW supports the FHNW University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland in fulfilling its social, cultural and scientific responsibilities. It promotes innovative, outstanding and creative projects and activities in teaching and applied research.

The FHNW fulfils a fourfold mandate from the Swiss Federation and the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK): education/training, applied research and development, continuing education, and services to third parties.
Organisation
The FHNW is an intercantonal public institute with its own legal entity and the right of self-administration within the framework of the state treaty of 27 October/9 November 2004 and the respective four-year mandate.
Schools
FHNW University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland comprises ten schools, each consisting of various institutes.
